From our Executive Director:
It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come since 2017, when I first brought some used hospital equipment here from Tri-Cities to start KC HELP. In 2020 we served almost 400 people and by 2024 it had increased to about 2,100 people—a five-fold increase in only four years!
Now we’ve bought a building for our permanent Bremerton Service Center and there is no doubt we are where we are supposed to be in this new location. We have always thrived thanks to the support of the community, our clients, and our terrific volunteers, but now we need the support of the broader philanthropic community of the Kitsap peninsula to help with this purchase, so we’ve launched a Capital Campaign to solicit your help. Our goal is to pay off the mortgage with a ballon payment by June 2028 (but NLT June 2029), and I believe with your support, we can do it!
OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
We first moved into a Bremerton warehouse space in June 2021 thanks to the generosity of the Bremerton St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP), and it was immediately evident we were where we needed to be. Within three years this Bremerton Service Center was accounting for about 60-70% of our equipment loan activities. When SVdP notified us we would soon need to move due to redevelopment plans for the property, we knew we needed to find a new home in the same area. Finding an excellent location only a block away at 939 N Callow Ave was too good to pass up—so we bought it! We have always been supported by our clients and the general public such that we are convinced we have the financial stability to manage our business far into the foreseeable future—once our new building is paid for. Accordingly, we have established a Capital Campaign to pay for the new building and the projected repairs and refurbishing we hope to accomplish in the near term. We have monthly mortgage payments until a balloon payment NLT June 2029. Our Capital Campaign goal is $650,000 which we hope to raise by June 2028. Many donors prefer to make a pledge of support over the duration of the campaign and recurrent donations, monthly or annual, can be set-up when you make your initial donation. We are very grateful for all your support! 100% of all Capital Campaign donations will go toward paying for the building, and its repairs and refurbishment.
